Overview
The trading component UI transacted over 41.48M real estate square feet to date — $5,600,000,000.00+ in cumulative notional volume. From January 2024 to April 2025, distinct active accounts climbed to 25.1K. Consistent growth proved a simple truth: make people feel good about their choices, and they'll keep coming back.
The Brief
People don't trade $5.6+ billion on a real estate investment platform because the buttons are pretty — they do it because the experience feels right. The challenge was building a trading interface that could handle institutional-scale volume while staying approachable to first-time real estate investors. Every hesitation point in the UI was a lost trade.
Real-time price data meant the interface had to remain calm under load without surfacing noise as alarm. Edge cases — low liquidity, price impact warnings, settlement delays — needed clear handling that informed without alarming. The UI had to work within Parcl's existing design system while pushing its expressive range.
Mapped the full trading funnel from market discovery to position close, then iteratively stripped away every element that didn't directly serve the next decision a trader needed to make.

Tradeoffs
Chose simplicity over completeness in the primary flow — power users had to click through to advanced views for full market data. Accepted that tradeoff because the volume data consistently showed the simple path was where the majority of activity happened.
